Taming Tigers

One of our ‘pledges’ at West Cliff is to ‘Tame a tiger’.

The concept came from the book of the same name by Jim Lawless, an inspirational keynote speaker. Inspired by the idea of challenging children to tame their tigers (in other words, face a situation that worries them), the West Cliff team introduced this in 2013 and, since then, it has become part of our vocabulary in the school, with children talking openly about their tigers and the actions they will take to tame them!

We were delighted when Jim Lawless, who tends to work with major international organisations, took time out of his busy schedule to visit the school and share his personal taming tiger experiences. His words inspired our pupils to identify their own tigers, make plans to tame them and then do just that!
