Yesterday, Seal Class had the fantastic opportunity to visit the fisheries patrol boat with the North Eastern Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority - and honestly, it might have been the coolest place in Whitby to be on such a hot day! With a refreshing sea breeze on deck and the luxury of air conditioning inside, we were living our best lives while learning all about the important work NEIFCA does to protect our local coastline and marine life. The children completed a quiz, admired the impressive boat and even said hello to a rather handsome lobster! We finished with a ‘very willing’ volunteer suiting up in all the specialist gear and going head-to-head with one of the experts. Let's just say there were a few laughs! A huge thank you to North Eastern Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority, Dean for organising the visit, Mrs Knight for giving up her day off to accompany us and the wonderful crew for leading our groups and sharing their expertise. We had an amazing time and are already hoping to return with more groups next year.
